What to compare on a commuter

Four figures separate commuters more usefully than engine size. The tank, which with the mileage decides how far you go between fills. The kerb weight, which is the bike ready to ride; some sheets print a gross vehicle weight instead, which adds a rider and load, and this site never shows that as the bike's weight. The front brake, disc or drum. And the gearbox, four speeds or five.

Runner's pairs, and the rest of the commuter list

Runner makes most of the commuters on this site, and Runner's own sheets show several pairs that share their published figures. The AD80S Alloy and AD80S Deluxe match on every line. So do the Bullet 100 and Bullet 100 V2, and the Turbo 125 and Turbo V2, which also share a price. The Royal+ V2 and Royal+ 110 match on engine, weight and tank, although the V2's sheet is shorter. The Cheeta 100 and F100 6A share an engine and a price but not a tank: 10 litres against 13. Where two bikes publish the same figures at different prices, the difference is in something the sheet does not list, and it is worth seeing both before paying for it.

Drums at both ends are still common at the cheaper end: Runner's Bike RT 80, both AD80S models, the Cheeta 100 and the F100 6A have them. TVS lists a 240 mm front disc and five gears for the Raider, and Yamaha a front disc and fuel injection for the Fazer Fi V2. Suzuki's two commuters publish very different amounts of detail: the GSX 125's sheet gives power, torque, weight and a five speed gearbox, while the Hayate EP's gives little beyond a claimed 85 km per litre.
