Bike Price in Bangladesh

Every motorcycle we hold a confirmed price for, cheapest first. What follows is what the price on this page does not include, which is usually where a budget goes wrong.

The price here is not the price you pay

Every figure on this page is ex showroom. That is the number the dealer quotes and the number every price list in the country prints, and it is not what leaves your pocket. On top of it come BRTA registration, the number plate, the tax token you choose at registration, and whatever the dealer charges for delivery and first fitting. Budget for the showroom price and you will be short.

How much short depends mostly on engine class, because that is how BRTA bands its fees, and on whether you take the two year or the ten year tax token. The ten year token costs more the day you buy and less across the life of the bike. Which is right for you comes down to how long you actually intend to keep it, and whether you would rather hold the cash now.

Why almost everything here is between 100 and 165 cc

Scroll the list and you will notice how tightly the engines cluster. That is not what the market wants, it is what the rules allow. Imported motorcycles have long been capped at 165 cc, which is why so many models sold here stop precisely there and why a 200 cc bike that is ordinary in India is unusual in Dhaka. Locally assembled machines above that ceiling have more recently been permitted, up to a higher limit, which is why a handful of larger bikes now appear.

This rule has changed more than once and the detail differs between importing, manufacturing and registering. If you are buying anything above 165 cc, confirm the current position with BRTA or with the dealer in writing before you pay, rather than trusting any website including this one.

Reading the mileage figure honestly

Manufacturers quote mileage from a controlled test. Dhaka is not a controlled test. Stop start traffic, a pillion, and the short trips most riders actually make all pull the real figure below the printed one, and a heavier bike loses more than a light one does. Treat the quoted number as a way to rank bikes against each other rather than as a promise about your commute.

What actually separates two bikes at the same price

At any given budget the engines tend to be within a few horsepower of each other, so the specification that changes your daily experience is usually not the one in the headline. Kerb weight decides how the bike feels at walking pace in traffic, which in this city is most of your riding. Seat height decides whether you can flat foot it at a light. Braking is the one place worth paying more: on this site a bike whose maker states ABS is marked, and where the maker's own sheet does not mention it we say not stated rather than guessing, because absence of a line on a spec sheet is not evidence that the feature is missing.

Common questions

Does the price on this page include registration?

No. Every price here is ex showroom. BRTA registration, the number plate and the tax token are charged on top, and the total depends on the engine class and on whether you take a two year or a ten year token.

Why are so many bikes exactly 165 cc?

Imported motorcycles have long been capped at 165 cc in Bangladesh, so models are built to stop just under the ceiling. Locally assembled bikes above that limit have more recently been allowed, which is why a few larger machines now appear. Confirm the current rule with BRTA before buying anything larger.

How accurate are the mileage figures?

They are the manufacturer's own figures from a controlled test. Real mileage in Dhaka traffic is lower, and heavier bikes lose more than light ones. Use the number to compare bikes rather than to predict your fuel bill.

Are these prices current?

Prices come from the manufacturers and their Bangladeshi distributors and are dated when we check them. They change without notice, so confirm with the dealer before you buy.

We do not sell motorcycles and we take no payment from any manufacturer to move a model up this list. The order is price, nothing else. If a figure here is wrong, tell us and we will check it.
