What this budget reaches
At the top of this range you are into well equipped 125s and the more basic 150s. That means a real commuter with fuel injection, a disc front brake and a digital cluster on many models. What you are usually giving up against the next bracket is ABS, liquid cooling, and the better suspension. Of those three, brakes are the one worth stretching for.
The trap at the top of a budget
Buying the most expensive bike you can afford leaves nothing for a proper helmet, and a proper helmet is the single best value purchase in motorcycling. If the choice is the dearer bike or the better helmet, take the helmet.
