150cc Bikes in Bangladesh

The class most Bangladeshi riders end up in, and the one where the choice is widest.

Why this class exists the way it does

Around 150 cc is where a Bangladeshi buyer with a real budget usually lands. It is far enough above the 100 and 110 cc commuters to keep up comfortably on a flyover, and far enough below the import ceiling that manufacturers build for it properly rather than treating it as a niche. The result is that nearly every brand selling here has something in this class, and they are competing hard.

The engines are close, so look elsewhere

Once you are comparing bikes within a few cc of each other, the power figures land within a couple of horsepower and stop being useful for choosing. The differences that will actually change your day are further down the spec sheet. Kerb weight is the one to read first, because it decides how the bike behaves at walking pace. Then brakes, then seat height, then whether the maker states ABS.

Air cooled or liquid cooled is the other real fork in this class. A liquid cooled engine holds its power better in long slow traffic on a hot afternoon and generally revs harder; an air cooled one is simpler, usually lighter and usually cheaper to keep. Neither is the right answer for everyone.

What 150 cc costs you beyond the sticker

Registration is banded by engine capacity, so a 150 cc bike costs more to put on the road than a 110 cc one does, on top of already costing more to buy. Work out the BRTA figure for this class before you commit to a model at the top of your budget.

Common questions

Is 150cc enough for highway riding in Bangladesh?

Yes for normal intercity use. A 150 cc bike will hold legal highway speeds comfortably. It is working harder than a larger engine would, so overtaking with a pillion and luggage needs more planning.

Air cooled or liquid cooled at 150cc?

Liquid cooled holds power better in long slow traffic and revs harder. Air cooled is simpler, usually lighter and usually cheaper to maintain. Choose by how you actually ride rather than by the spec sheet.

Does a 150cc bike cost more to register?

Yes. BRTA bands its fees by engine capacity, so registration for this class is higher than for a 100 or 125 cc machine.
